Western Washington University (Owner) and Dawson Construction LLC (GC/CM) are seeking proposals for the Multicultural Center Project (MCC). The MCC is an addition and renovation to the WWU Bookstore and Viking Union facility to develop a new location for multicultural services programs. The project includes removing the existing bookstore concrete roof and mezzanine structure to construct a new second story structure to house the programs and bridge over to the Viking Union structure. This will need to occur with the Viking Union fully occupied, and construction is scheduled to begin in winter. The project is located in the core of campus on High Street, Western’s main access for transit on the north campus. There is very little area for site laydown and staging. The narrow width of High Street (26’) and heavy transit/pedestrian traffic will make material deliveries challenging. The project has a minimum LEED Silver certification requirement.

Dawson Construction General Contractor/Construction Manager (GC/CM) is requesting subcontractor bids for the following scopes of work:

31.0 – Earthwork at 2:00PM*

09.1 – Acoustical Ceilings at 3:00PM

02.0 – Building & Site Demolition at 4:00PM*

02.2 – Abatement at 4:00PM

* Indicates as bid package the GC/CM Dawson Construction intends to bid.

Bid Submittal: Sealed bids are due no later than Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the times outlined above. Bids can be hand-delivered to Business Services, Administrative Services Building, 333 32nd Street, Room AC141, Bellingham, WA 98225. Bids can be mailed to Western Washington University, Administrative Services Building, P.O. Box 29390, Bellingham, WA 98228-1390. Bids will be opened publicly at the WWU Administrative Services Building located at 333 32nd Street, Room 141, Bellingham, WA 98225 following turn-in. Bids received after this time and date will be returned unopened and will not be considered. Faxed or emailed bids will not be accepted.

A bid bond will be required in the amount of (5%) five percent of the bid amount, for any bids in excess of $300,000.

Dawson Construction and Western Washington University shall have the right to accept the lowest responsive bid from a statutorily "responsible" bidder, provided the bid has been submitted in accordance with the requirements of the Bidding Documents. The GC/CM and the Owner shall have the right to waive informalities on a bid or bids and shall have the right to reject any and all bids for the project.
