The Housing Authority of Whatcom County (WCHA) is seeking a qualified firm to provide
architectural design, engineering, and construction administration services in connection
with flood mitigation, restoration, and rehabilitation at the Sumas Square apartment
building located in Sumas, WA. Sumas Square is a single-story wood-framed building
over a crawl space. There are eleven (11) one-bedroom residential units accessed by
interior corridors and shared building entrances. The building floorplan also includes
modest common areas consisting of a lobby, storage, and laundry room.

The selected firm will contract directly with WCHA, an independent public body corporate
and politic. All project activities will be conducted in accordance with Public Works
requirements found in RCW 39.04. WCHA intends to move this project forward as
expeditiously as possible and has a fixed budget to operate within. Preference will be given
to firms who can commit necessary resources for completing this project without
significant delay.
