10 - 11 a.m. | Get Vendor Ready for Packaged Foods

Join Julianna Duso from Business Impact Northwest for this fast-paced, informative session where you will gain practical insights on how your local buyers make decisions. Learn about what rules and regulations you need to have in place before you are eligible to be on your local grocery store shelves. Wholesaling a product will put pressure on your margins, so this session will end with a brief outline of the factors to consider as you make the leap to the grocery store shelves.

11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. | Managing Profits

Margin management and developing a financial discipline system for small businesses in the food industry: This will include industry financial metrics for food businesses, developing financial reports on a weekly basis and cash flow forecasting.

12:30 - 1:30 p.m. | Sales Channels and Go To Market Strategy

In today's markets, successful food entrepreneurs are looking beyond just their one primary channel. Food restaurants are packaging their products; packaged products are opening food trucks; food trucks are opening restaurants, and wholesalers are opening direct to online customer marketplaces. In this session, we'll talk about the different channels food business have available to get their products and services into to customers bellies. We'll discuss the pros and cons of these different channels including costs, branding implications, sales teams skills, and more.

1:45 - 2:45 p.m. | Food Regulation

Learn about how to navigate through the requirements and regulations for opening or expanding a restaurant or mobile food vending operation in Seattle. State licensing requirements will also be covered as well as information on permitting through King County. We will also touch on requirements for food manufacturers and allow time for Q&A.
