SR 520 & AWV Program Contractor Virtual Outreach Meeting

Dear contractors and diversity partners,

You are invited to participate in a virtual contractor outreach meeting on March 4 highlighting upcoming contracting opportunities with WSDOT on the SR 520 and Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement programs. The meeting will provide useful information both for large prime contractors and for small minority-, veteran-, and women-owned businesses (MSVWBE firms).

Please register here for the meeting. You’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to join the meeting on March 4.

Meeting details:

  • Date: Thursday, March 4, 2021
  • Time: 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
  • Format: Virtual meeting via Zoom

 The upcoming WSDOT projects are:

1.    SR 520/I-5 Express Lanes Connection Project

  • A design-bid-build project
  • Contract advertisement March 2021; construction starts in spring/early summer 2021; 3-year duration
  • Contract value estimate: Approximately $60 million to $75 million
  • Key work activities include: Bridge structure, wall structures, drilled shaft foundations, HMA and PCCP paving, roadway electrical, ITS, signing, drainage, earthwork, landscaping, utilities, fire hydrant upgrades, and traffic control.

2.    Alaskan Way Viaduct South Access Surface Street Connections Project

  • A design-bid-build project
  • Contract advertisement in February 2021; construction starts in spring/early summer 2021; 1.5-year duration
  • Contract value estimate: Approximately $15 million to $20 million
  • Key work activities include: Earthwork, paving, roadway electrical and signing work, landscaping, a reinforced concrete retaining wall, drilled shaft foundation construction, building construction including electrical and mechanical work, and traffic control.

Because these are both design-bid-build projects, WSDOT completes the design to 100%, then hires a prime contractor to complete the construction. Our WSDOT project managers will be present at the meeting and available to answer questions.

We hope you can attend this meeting on March 4. Thank you for your interest in the SR 520 and AWV programs as WSDOT works to deliver important safety and mobility improvements for the region.
