This webinar is an introductory session for the upcoming Bonding Education Program (BEP) Workshops which will be held live in February 2020.

This two-part webinar is designed to introduce estimating and estimating software to firms interested in pursuing heavy-civil construction projects. The target audience for this webinar includes minority and woman owned small businesses and emerging contractors/consultants in the transportation field who are seeking to increase their business capacity and run their operation more effectively.

Part 1: December 4 - Fundamentals of Estimating

•The Take-off Process – Manual and Electronic

•Estimate Schedule and Preliminary Project Schedule

•Develop Project Costs

•Suppliers and Subcontractors Scopes and Quote Management

•Compile the Estimate

Part 2: December 5 - Introduction to Estimating Software

•Background

•Import quantities from digital take-off systems

•Create estimates that include assemblies, crews, and production rates

•Incorporate schedule within estimate – cashflow modeling

•Track and compare quotes, conditions, and scope sheets from subcontractors and suppliers

•Run alternate scenarios within the estimate

•Standardize estimating processes using templates and cost libraries

•Leverage experience from past projects to benchmark estimated costs and productivity rates
