Project Title: Leschi and Lowell Elementary Schools Seismic Improvements and Exterior Door Replacement

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS:

Sealed Bids will be received by Seattle Public Schools (“SPS” or “Owner”) through and including 2:00 p.m. on March 8, 2018 at the Seattle Public Schools’ John Stanford Center, Contracting Services Section, 2445 Third Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134 for Leschi and Lowell Elementary Schools Seismic Improvements and Exterior Door Replacement Project. The work will include, but not be limited to, asbestos abatement, selective demolition, various interior and exterior structural work for voluntary seismic improvements, framing, drywall, replacement of equipment and finishes disturbed or removed during seismic work, exterior door, frame and hardware replacement (Lowell only), miscellaneous mechanical and electrical work, and related work. The cost range is $500,000 to $750,000. Shortly after 2:00 p.m. bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after the day and hour stated above will not receive consideration. Owner reserves the right to postpone the Bid opening.

The Project sites are available for inspection by prospective bidders at pre-bid site meetings and walk-throughs at both sites on February 20, 2018, first at Leschi and then at Lowell. Meet in the front parking lot at Leschi Elementary (off Yesler Way) at 9:00 am on February 20, 2018, located at 135 32nd Ave., Seattle WA 98122. This will be followed by a meeting at Lowell Elementary at 11:00 am on February 20, 2018 located at 1058 E. Mercer St., Seattle WA 98102. Meet at the southeast corner of Lowell near the intersection of Mercer St. and 11th Ave. E. A surety company bid bond on a form acceptable to Owner, a cashier’s check or a certified check payable to the order of Seattle Public Schools shall accompany each bid in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the Base Bid. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bids received.

No bidder may withdraw its bid after the hour set for the opening thereof, unless the award of the contract is delayed for a period exceeding ninety (90) days.

To access documents on-line with Builders Exchange, go to “bxwa.com” and click on “Posted Projects,” “Public Works,” “Seattle Public Schools” and “Projects Bidding.” It is recommended that bidders “Register as a Bidder” in order to receive automatic email notification of future addenda, to download addenda, and to be placed on the “Bidders List.” Bidders that do not register will not be automatically notified of addenda and will need to periodically check the on-line plan room for addenda issued for this project. General contractors may pick up a maximum of two complete sets of Bidding Documents, and mechanical and electrical subcontractors may obtain one complete set of the Bidding Documents for a refundable deposit of $150.00 per set, by business or cashier’s check only, made payable to Seattle Public Schools at the office of:
