Walsh Construction Company II, LLC, as a prime contractor, is requesting bids from subcontractors and suppliers, including certified DBE and SBE firms, for the following:

T100 Tacoma Link Extension

Project Introduction

This project includes constructing 2.4 miles of light rail transit (LRT) service, six new stations and one relocated station, and four traction power substation (TPSS) sites. It also includes expanding the existing Operations and Maintenance Facility (OMF) and demolishing an existing warehouse at the OMF site. Two-way train tracks will be in existing road lanes shared with cars and buses, and will be compatible with on-site parking and existing bicycle facilities.

Work Scopes

The work includes demolition, contaminated soils removal and disposal, minor asbestos abatement, piling, building civil, structural, mechanical and electrical work, new rail yard, modifications to existing maintenance facility, procurement of pre-fabricated paint booth and vehicle wash, at grade center platform stations, architectural finishes, mechanical, electrical and lighting systems, traffic signals, traction power, overhead catenary system, special track work, new water main, sanitary and storm sewer relocation, temporary utility outages, storm water management, street grading and paving, modifications to curb ramps, driveways and sidewalks, new retaining walls, traffic control, and systems installation and commissioning.

DBE/SBE Goals and Requirements

The project has an SBE goal of 8% and DBE goal of 4%.  Walsh intends to negotiate with all certified SBE and DBE firms to encourage project participation, including consideration of quotes for any item of work, portion of an item, or combination thereof.

Bonding and Insurance

Performance and payment bonds with a surety company, subject to the approval of Walsh, are required of subcontractors with subcontracts for $250,000 or more. We will reimburse bond premiums up to 2%.
