Project Description: The new 60,000 square foot one-story Birney Elementary will stand on the west border of the 8.68-acre property, with the main entrance moving from South 76th Street to South Sheridan Avenue. Four classroom wings connect to the learning commons, with the wings organized so classrooms can expand into a flexible shared learning space and to the adjacent courtyards. Outdoor play areas will sit on the north end of the property. Birney students will remain in the existing building during construction. The new school is scheduled to open in fall 2020, after which the old building will be demolished.

 

The following bid packages will be publicly rebid in accordance with RCW 39.10.380:

2:00pm – Specialty Doors*

2:10pm – Window Treatments

2:20pm – Athletic Equipment

2:30pm – Misc. Metals and Steel*

2:40pm – Mechanical & Plumbing (combined package)

2:50pm – Exterior Siding and Air Barrier

 

*Turner may bid the following packages: Misc Metals & Steel and the Specialty Doors. Tacoma Public Schools is soliciting other bidders for these packages.

 

Diversity Goals: Local Pierce County 30%, MWBE 10%, WBE 6%, and SBE 5%.

Apprenticeship Goal: 15%
