Commercial Affordability Pilot, King County

Applications open for Commercial Affordability Pilot – Due September 26

Communities of Opportunity (COO) is seeking proposals from organizations to address the barriers small businesses in our community are facing due to rapid economic growth in our region. The Commercial Affordability Pilot program will develop models and tools for small businesses with a specific focus on areas of King County that are part of COO place-based and cultural communities.

Small businesses are integral to the economic fabric of King County, but the current period of rapid economic growth threatens to displace these businesses. These businesses are critical for the vibrancy of our communities and as places of employment. Many are experiencing higher rent prices for commercial space, low vacancy rates, and inequitable access to small business loans.

This Request for Proposal is open to organizations with expertise in approaches to increase community ownership and slow the displacement of businesses. Team applications are strongly encouraged. The most competitive teams will include a partnership with a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), community and neighborhood development organization or investment organizations.
