Contract description: The Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) is issuing this Competitive Solicitation pursuant to RCW 39.26. Pursuant to this Competitive Solicitation, WTSC intends to conduct a competitive procurement to award an Agency Contract for WTSC to purchase Digital Alert Technology.
The successful bidder will work with WTSC to deploy digital alert technology into first responder partner vehicles. The successful bidder would be expected to work with WTSC to develop relationships with state partner first responder agencies to deploy digital alert technologies, provide data on the utilization of the digital alert technology, and to work with these partner agencies to educate the public on digital alert technologies and Move Over, Slow Down laws.
Equipping first responder vehicles that operate on the roadside with digital alerting technology provides early warning to drivers operating vehicles within the vehicle. Digital alerting technology differs from all past methods utilized to notify a driver of an approaching hazard by bringing the alert within the vehicle to gain the driver's attention. This increased awareness of roadside hazards can help to increase compliance with Move Over, Slow Down laws and reduce serious injury and fatal collisions.
