Project Description:

Restoration of the laylights and skylights at the House and Senate Chambers including necessary improvements to the acoustical and AV systems, lighting controls, and mechanical systems associated with the skylight restoration

 

A. Scope of work is as indicated on drawings and specifications. In general, the scope includes:

1. Removal and replacement of acoustical panels above laylight with new safety glazing.

2. Removal of roof decking and metal roof assembly at historic skylight openings for new custom gabled metal skylight system on insulated metal curb.

3. Removal of existing speaker cluster above laylight to be replaced with new AV system.

4. New acoustic drapery and hardware..

5. Removal and replacement of existing fabric-wrapped acoustic panels with new thicker fabric-wrapped acoustical panels in the Chambers.

6. Removal and replacement of existing lights at laylight with new lights. Bronze laylight to be modified to accommodate new size of lighting.

7. Restoration of laylight panels at locations where lights have been removed and do not require replacement.

8. New motorized roller shade system at skylights.

9. New lighting controls.

10. New mechanical systems as required to reduce the heat loads and noise at the Chamber Attics.

11. New fall protection inside the Chamber Attics.

12. New lighting and painting in the Chamber Attics to create a “light” box.

13. New fall protection anchor points at roof ridge due to installation of skylight.

14. Necessary selective demolition, repair, finishing, mounting and supports for all new scope of work.

15. Potential inclusion of project Alternates described in section 01 2300 Alternates

This project does have an OMWBE goal:

Additional Information:

  • Prevailing wage rates and Mandatory 15% apprentice requirements apply to this project.
