Fire Sprinkler Project

 

Notice is hereby given that separate sealed bids will be received by the City Manager, City of Longview, City Manager's Office, City Hall, up until 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019, and then publicly opened and tabulated for the Fire Station 81, Fire Sprinkler Project.   

 

The project consists of the design and installation of a NFPA 13 code compliant wet fire sprinkler system for City of Longview Fire Station 81 located at 740 Commerce Avenue, Longview WA 98632, Parcel # 02070. The scope of work includes:  the design, approval, procurement and installation of the wet fire sprinkler system for the 13,000 square foot facility; installation of an in-ground backflow assembly and new fire sprinkler service line; the removal and disposal of the acoustical ceiling tile panels, T-bar ceiling grid and fiberglass batt insulation over the apparatus/truck bay; minor building modifications for the new sprinkler riser room and other incidentals necessary to complete all of the work in accordance with the contract, plans, contract provisions and the standard specifications.

 

The official clock will be the time/date stamp clock located in the executive office reception area.

 

Bid documents may be examined in the Owner’s office, City of Longview, Washington – Engineering Division, 1525 Broadway, Longview, WA. Bid documents may be obtained from the Builder’s Exchange of Washington (BXWA) website, http://bxwa.com. Click on Posted Projects, Public Works, City of Longview and Project Bidding links. These are available to view, download and print on your own equipment free of charge. It is the sole responsibility of the Bidder to learn of Addendum, if any. Such information may be obtained from the Builder’s Exchange of Washington (BXWA) web site, http://bxwa.com. Click on Posted Projects, Public Works, City of Longview and Project Bidding links; however, the sole responsibility for obtaining and learning of Addendum belongs to the Bidder. The City of Longview accepts no responsibility or liability and will provide no accommodation to bidders who fail to check for addendums and submit inadequate or incorrect responses.

 

All work performed on this project will be subject to the higher of the Washington State or Federal Davis Bacon prevailing wage rates.  Documentation shall meet WSDOT Standard spec 1-07.9(5).

 

Cash, cashier’s check, certified check and/or bid bond in an amount equal to at least 5% of the total bid price shall accompany all bids.

 

Federal Aid Project:  This project is funded in part through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/FEMA, Assistance to Firefighters Grant and City of Longview funds. 

 

The City of Longview in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 78 Stat. 252, 42 U.S.C. 2000d to 2000d-4 and Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Transportation, subtitle A, Office of the Secretary, Part 21, nondiscrimination in federally assisted programs of the Department of Transportation issued pursuant to such Act, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises as defined at 49 CFR will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, national origin, or sex in consideration for an award.

The successful bidder will be required to comply with all applicable provisions of the "WSDOT Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction”, 2018 Edition, Amendments to the Standard Specifications, Special Provisions, and Special Technical Provisions included in the contract documents.

 

The City Council reserves the right to:  reject any and/or all bids; accept the bid deemed in the best interest of the City; waive any informalities in the bidding; delay the award of the bid until a regular Council meeting.

 

Bids must be sealed with the outside of the envelope boldly marked to indicate that it contains a sealed bid, the bid opening date, and the specific project involved.

 

An on-site, pre-bid conference will be held at the Fire Station 81 building, 740 Commerce Avenue on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at 1:30-pm, local time.  The pre-bid conference will include access to the fire station, define the scope of work and contractor project coordination.  Attendance at the pre-bid conference is strongly encouraged, but not required in order to submit a bid.
