Invitation to Bid - Carson Elementary School Siding Re-Construction Project

Sealed bids will be received by the Puyallup School District No. 3 for the Carson Elementary School Siding Re-Construction Project at the Capital Projects Office, 323 12th Street NW, Puyallup, WA 98371.

The formal bid clock will be the District supplied and identified bid clock.

Bids will be publicly opened in the conference room at the Capital Projects Office, 323 12th Street NW, Puyallup, WA 98371 after 1:00 PM local time and read aloud. 

PROJECT SCOPE
The scope of the project includes re-construction of the existing siding at Carson Elementary School. The scope shall include but not limited too; site supervision, temporary fencing, material hoisting, demolition of existing siding and trim, selective demolition of existing weather barrier/rainscreen, installation of new weather barrier, joint preparation at similar materials (new joint flashings), installation of new plank siding and trim, caulking, protection of existing metal flashing, removal and reinstallation of exterior attached items, and new painting.

Notice to Proceed will be issued on or about June 23, 2025, whereupon the site will be available and on-site work may begin immediately upon the approval of all required documents. See Section Request for Proposal for specific completion times.

The engineer’s estimate of the work is $632,600.00.

All permits will be provided by the contractor except building permit.

PROJECT DOCUMENTS
Bid documents are those prepared by Puyallup School District No. 3, and will be available beginning 2:00 pm, Monday, April 7th, 2025. Free-of-charge access to project bid documents (plans, specifications, addenda, and Bidders List) is provided to Prime Bidders, Subcontractors, and Vendors by going to www.bxwa.com and clicking on “Posted Projects”, Public Works”, and “Puyallup School District” and “Projects Bidding”. This online plan room provides Bidders with fully usable online documents with the ability to download, view, print, order full/partial plan sets from numerous reprographic sources, and a free online digitizer/take-off tool. It is recommended that Bidders “Register” in order to receive automatic e-mail notification of future addenda and to place themselves on the “Self-Registered Bidders List”. Bidders that do not register will not be automatically notified of addenda and will need to periodically check with on-line plan room for addenda issued on this project. Electronic pdf bid documents will also be supplied to qualified general contractors and prime subcontractors by contacting Mike McCanna (PSD) at (253) 841-8643. There is no deposit required for bid documents.

If electronic documents are arranged, the bidder is still responsible for registering on-line at Builder’s Exchange to become a registered bidder and obtain updated bid documents and addenda notification.

The districts has included the intended construction contract form for review. These documents will be issued as provided for contracting unless comments are received during bid period and changes are made by an addendum.

BID SECURITY
A certified or bank cashier’s check payable to the Owner or a bid bond executed by a licensed bonding company is required with each bid, in an amount equal to five (5) percent of the Base Bid. Make payable to Puyallup School District and enclose with bid.

REJECTION OF BIDS
The Owner shall have the right to reject any or all bids for any reason or for no reason, to reject a bid not accompanied by required bid security or by other data required by the Bidding Documents, or to reject a bid, which is in any way incomplete or irregular.

PRE-BID CONFERENCE
A pre-bid conference will be held on site at Carson Elementary School, located at 8615 184th St E, Puyallup, WA 98375 at 7:30AM on Monday April 21, 2025. It is highly encouraged to attend the pre-bid to review the existing conditions. Please do not schedule site visits outside the pre-bid conference.

PROPOSED PRJOECT SCHEDULE
District issues intent to award on or about May 9, 2025; contract issued May 20th
District issues Notice to Proceed on site for mobilization on or about June 23, 2025
Substantial Completion: August 15, 2025
Final Completion: September 15, 2025

LIQUIDATED DAMAGES
The site is available to the contractor immediately upon execution of the construction contract. Liquidated damages will be included in the contract at $300/day beyond the date of substantial completion.
