NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS:

 

The work will include, but not be limited to, selective demolition, removal and disposal of regulated building materials, drywall /plaster, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, installation of new fire suppression system, including new water service to a fire sprinkler riser assembly, installation of plywood shear wall sections, installation of new HVAC units to serve classroom spaces, including replacement of water distribution piping in the utility tunnel and refurbishment of existing HVAC equipment. The cost range is $3,000,000 to $3,500,000 Part 1: Sealed Bids will be received by Seattle Public Schools (“SPS” or “Owner”) through and including 2:00 p.m. on November 4, 2020 at the Seattle Public Schools’ John Stanford Center, Contracting Services Section, 2445 Third Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134 for Lafayette Elementary School Seismic, Fire Sprinkler & HVAC Upgrades. Part 2: Prior to 3:00 p.m. on such date, bidders shall submit bids on alternates and HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical subcontractor work listings. Shortly after 3:00 p.m. bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after the day and hour stated above will not receive consideration. Part 3: Prior to 2:00 p.m. on November 6, 2020, within forty-eight (48) hours of the time and date for the Receipt of Bids, bidders shall submit Structural Steel & Rebar subcontractor work listings at the Seattle Public Schools’ John Stanford Center, Contracting Services Section, 2445 Third Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134 for Lafayette Elementary School Seismic, Fire Sprinkler & HVAC Upgrades. Shortly after 2:00 p.m. subcontractor work listings will be publicly opened and read aloud. Work listings received after the day and hour stated above will not receive consideration. Owner reserves the right to postpone the Bid opening.

 

In order to maintain the social distancing order of 6 feet, bids will be publicly opened and read aloud via video outside the John Stanford Center in the covered area on the East side of the building. Please look for signs directing you to the bid area. The Microsoft Teams link to the public bid opening is available on the Seattle Public Schools Current Solicitations Web Site.

 

The Project site is available for inspection by prospective bidders at a pre-bid site meeting and walk-through at 3:00 pm on October 21, 2020, at Lafayette Elementary School, 2645 California Ave SW

Seattle, WA 98116. Check in at the main office. To best comply with current COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, meeting participants are required to adhere to the following: do not attend if not feeling well or currently COVID-19 positive, provide and wear own personal protective equipment (PPE) including face mask, and maintain six-foot social distancing as feasible. A surety company bid bond on a form acceptable to Owner, a cashier’s check or a certified check payable to the order of Seattle Public Schools shall accompany each bid in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the Base Bid. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bids received.

 

No bidder may withdraw its bid after the hour set for the opening thereof, unless the award of the contract

is delayed for a period exceeding ninety (90) days.

To access documents on-line with Builders Exchange, go to “bxwa.com” and click on “Posted Projects,” “Public Works,” “Seattle Public Schools” and “Projects Bidding.” It is recommended that bidders “Register as a Bidder” in order to receive automatic email notification of future addenda, to download addenda, and to be placed on the “Bidders List.” Bidders that do not register will not be automatically notified of addenda and will need to periodically check the on-line plan room for addenda issued for this project. General contractors may pick up a maximum of two complete sets of Bidding Documents, and mechanical and electrical subcontractors may obtain one complete set of the Bidding Documents for a refundable deposit of $150.00 per set, by business or cashier’s check only, made payable to Seattle Public Schools at the office of:
