OWL CREEK RESTORATION PROJECT - WOOD PROCUREMENT

Trout Unlimited (TU) is soliciting proposals for the acquisition and delivery of logs and woody material for the construction of a habitat restoration project on Owl Creek. Owl Creek is in the coastal foothills of the Olympic Mountains in western Jefferson County, Washington, and is a large tributary to the Hoh River (Figure 1). Historic debris flows and flooding in the 1990s scoured the channel bed of sediments and instream wood, flushing most downstream to the Hoh and leaving a channel largely devoid of spawning gravels, instream cover, pools and hydraulic refugia needed for salmonids to survive. TU is leading restoration efforts in lower Owl Creek to provide the necessary habitat currently lacking to sustain natural salmonid populations. This project is to be constructed in the summer of 2025. All woody material required for the construction of project elements shall be furnished by the Contractor, delivered to the designated staging area, sorted according to type, and accepted by TU. TU is seeking a Contractor to acquire, deliver, and stage logs and woody material for the implementation of the Owl Creek Restoration Project.

Please visit TU's RFP Webpage for additional details and supplementary materials:

  2. Transporting all woody material to the designated staging areas.
    1. Logs and logs with rootwads shall be delivered to the Maple Bar Staging Area.
    2. Racking logs shall be delivered to the Helicopter Staging and Materials Fabrication Yard.
  3. Offloading transported woody material for inspection.
    1. Material that does not meet the project specifications will be rejected and no payment will be made until acceptable replacement material(s) are provided.
  4. Staging of woody material by type.

TU invites contractors to submit proposals electronically by Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time to:
