P2S Project Partner/Consultant Roster
P2S is a consulting engineering firm dedicated to bringing innovative, energy-efficient design solutions to healthcare. We seek potential engineering design partners for current and upcoming projects. These projects focus on healthcare facilities that require innovative design and a deep understanding of Washington state healthcare regulations, sustainability principles, and patient-centered care.
P2S values diversity and inclusion. Minority, women’s, veteran, small and disadvantaged firms are expressly encouraged to apply. In your submission, please indicate whether your firm qualifies under these categories.
Scope of Services
The scope of services may encompass any of the following areas, as needed:
Mechanical Engineering, including:
- HVAC Systems: Design and specification of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems that maintain proper air quality and temperature control, including infection control measures for patient areas, operating rooms, and clean rooms.
- Energy Modeling: Conducting energy performance simulations to improve system efficiency, reduce operational costs, and meet sustainability goals.
- Building Automation and Controls: Design and integration of advanced control systems for HVAC, lighting, and other building operations to enhance energy efficiency, monitoring, and automation.
Electrical Engineering, including:
- Power Distribution: Design of power distribution systems, including emergency and backup power systems to ensure continuous operation in critical healthcare environments.
- Lighting Design: Development of specialized lighting systems tailored to patient care areas, operating rooms, and staff workspaces, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and energy efficiency.
- Low Voltage Systems: Design and integration of low-voltage systems such as nurse call systems, fire alarms, telecommunications, and data systems, supporting the technological infrastructure of healthcare facilities.
Plumbing Engineering, including:
- Water Systems: Design of potable water, non-potable water, and specialty water systems (e.g., for sterilization or laboratories) with an emphasis on reliability and compliance with healthcare codes.
- Medical Gas Systems: Design and specification of systems for delivering medical gases (oxygen, nitrogen, etc.) to patient rooms and surgical areas.
- Waste and Vent Systems: Design of sanitary waste, storm drainage, and venting systems tailored to healthcare environments, including infection control and special handling of hazardous materials.
Fire Protection Engineering, including:
- Fire Suppression Systems: Design of comprehensive fire suppression systems (sprinkler systems, gaseous suppression, etc.) that meet both healthcare-specific requirements and local regulatory codes.
- Life Safety Systems: Design and integrate life safety systems, including emergency exits, smoke control, and alarm systems in compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., NFPA, Joint Commission).
Commissioning Services, including
- Pre-Design Commissioning: Develop a commissioning plan, review designs, and set performance benchmarks for MEP and life safety systems.
- Construction Phase Commissioning: Verify equipment installation, oversee testing and balancing of systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and conduct functional performance tests.
- Post-Construction: Calibrate systems, provide documentation, and ensure all systems meet operational requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Ongoing and Retro-Commissioning: Monitor system performance over time, optimize existing systems, and adjust to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Staff Training and Turnover: Train facility management staff and provide complete system manuals for ongoing maintenance and operation.
CAD/BIM Services, including:
- 3D Modeling: Develop detailed Building Information Models (BIM) to visualize and coordinate building systems in a healthcare environment.
- Clash Detection: Identify and resolve potential conflicts between building systems.
- Documentation: Generate accurate, detailed construction drawings and specifications from BIM models for use during construction and post-occupancy maintenance.
- Lifecycle Management: Provide as-built BIM models for facility management.
