Pay-for-Performance in Puget Sound Restoration
The Puget Sound Partnership (Partnership) and its Science Panel are pleased to announce funding for the Puget Sound Scientific Research for the 2025-2027 biennium (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2027) for projects that inform and improve the resilience of the Puget Sound ecosystem. The Partnership seeks informational responses in the format of project proposals, due by April 11, 2025. Project leads that are licensed to conduct business, or are willing to become licensed, in the state of Washington are eligible to submit proposals.
Using one of two project types (Integrated Social Ecological Systems Projects or Targeted Research), investigations should advance one or more of the priority Science Work Actions described in the RFI document. These Science Work Actions originate from and advance the Science Work Plan for 2025-2029.
The geographic scope for all projects is focused on Puget Sound, as defined in RCW 90.71.010: Definitions (11), and surrounding watersheds. Projects may involve investigation of other geographic areas, including the Canadian portion of the Salish Sea and other large aquatic ecosystems, so long as the research question is focused on Puget Sound.
As an implementing agency of Washington State’s Healthy Environment for All (HEAL) Act (RCW 70A.02), the Partnership encourages respondents to submit project proposals that create environmental benefits for overburdened and vulnerable populations, build collaborations with community scientists, and provide opportunities for Tribes, vulnerable populations, and community-based organizations to meaningfully participate.
More information about projects previously funded through Partnership science solicitations, including Puget Sound Scientific Research, is available on the Partnership’s Science and Evaluation Funded Projects page.
