The purpose of this Pre-RFI is to provide a Funding Opportunity Preview for the 2025-2027 Salmon Science Investigations Projects.

Announcement:
PSP is pleased to announce the preliminary schedule for the next cycle of Salmon Science Investigations funding for salmon recovery projects. We share this high-level overview to allow more time for interested parties to prepare projects and develop collaborative project teams. We expect to award up to $3,000,000 depending on funding availability.

Priority information needs include:
1. Relationships between salmonid populations, recovery actions, and salmonid habitat quality or quantity
2. Marine survival and marine food webs
3. Salmon production potential across landscapes and habitats
4. Human dimensions of salmon recovery

Preliminary schedule:
• Early December: Release of the solicitation for project proposals
• January: Informational webinar
• Mid-March: Proposals due
• Late April: Notification of successful proposals

Background about Salmon Science Investigations:
PSP funds projects every biennium that address priority salmon science needs to inform and accelerate Puget Sound salmon recovery. Select projects are funded via a RFI solicitation and evaluation process. The Partnership aims to fund the best available science to guide restoration, policy, and adaptive management decisions. Outcomes of proposed investigations should support ongoing recovery planning and adaptive management efforts to support self-sustaining, harvestable salmon runs that sustain people and orcas in Puget Sound. PSP also strongly encourages proposals that meaningfully integrate environmental justice principles.
