The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD) operates an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) which serves approximately 650 patients. The program utilizes methadone medication in the provision of treatment and is adding additional medications including Suboxone, Brixadi, Sublocade and Vivitrol. TPCHD also operates an STI/HIV program which will be integrating with the OTP program. Also, TPCHD operates a Street Medicine program which provides services to people living unhoused in the City of Tacoma.

The majority of patients served utilize Medicaid and Medicare funded care coverage including Managed Care Organization (MCO) insurance. The program also has patients under commercial insurance coverage where dual entity/coordination of benefits is necessary.
