RFQ - N. 40th Avenue & Fruitvale Blvd. Intersection Roundabout and Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvement project

MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING SERVICES REQUEST FOR
STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS
The City of Yakima is inviting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from firms interested in providing professional engineering design and preparing any needed environmental documentation for the N. 40th Avenue & Fruitvale Blvd. Intersection Roundabout and Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvement project. Design work will include PS&E for the following work:
- At the intersection of N 40th Ave and Fruitvale Blvd:
- Construct roundabout within the existing intersection and existing Right of Way with chicanes and pedestrian/bicyclist facilities and crossings. No additional Right of Way is anticipated for this work.
- Provide RRFBs for crossings
- Mark crosswalks through splitter islands on all four legs
- Construct ADA curb ramps.
- Provide pedestrian scale illumination for crossings
- On south side of US 12 eastbound offramp (WSDOT ROW) between intersection of N 40th Ave and Fruitvale Blvd and west end of Fred Meyer Parking lot:
- Construct approximately 1,235 ft of shared use path
- From west end of WSDOT ROW portion of path along Fred Meyer easement to W Powerhouse Rd:
- Construct approximately 585’ of shared use path
Accomplishing this work will include surveying, preparing the design plans and specifications, permitting, environmental and other work. The city of Yakima reserves the right to retain the services of the successful firm(s) for any subsequent phases (R/W, CN) associated with this project.
These improvements are intended to be constructed in 2026.
SOQs shall be limited to ten (10) pages front and back and shall include the following information: key personnel, design experience with PS&E, familiarity with WSDOT standards, roundabout design experience, experience with designing pedestrian and bicycle facilities and crossings, experience with state funded projects, and past performance/references. Statement of Qualifications will be evaluated on a competitive basis using the above criteria. The City will score the received Statement of Qualifications and may conduct interviews.
