The City of Seattle is providing notice that it intends to solicit bids for a drainage water storage tunnel project near the Lake Washington Ship Canal in March of 2019. Due to the size and complexity of this project, the City has elected to publish Section 00 11 53 – Project-Specific Experience Requirements prior to the release of the project bid solicitation documents.

Please note this Section 00 11 53 is being provided for informational purposes only for prospective bidders and interested parties.  Comments on this Section are not being solicited nor will be accepted at this time.  The City in its sole discretion reserves the right to modify this Section in the formal project bid document package, with an expected release date of March 2019. 

 

PROJECT LOCATION: This project is primarily located north of the Lake Washington Ship Canal starting, from west to east, in Ballard at 24th Ave NW and Shilshole AV NW, going through Fremont, and ending in Wallingford at N 35th Ave and Interlake Ave N.  There is also one project site location on the south side of the Ship Canal at 3rd Ave W. and W. Ewing Street.

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  Construct and install a 13,939 foot-long, 18-foot 10-inch internal diameter, segmentally lined tunnel constructed with a pressurized face Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), Construct and install 5 shaft sites, construct and install a 646 foot-long, 94-inch internal diameter, conveyance tunnel under the Lake Washington Ship Canal using a Microtunnel Boring Machine (MTBM), and construct and install surface conveyance piping and structures, with site restoration at all surface locations.

 

 ENGINEER’S ESTIMATE: $220,000,000

 

This Project is a Covered Project subject to the City of Seattle’s Community Workforce

Agreement (CWA) and Priority Hire SMC 20.37.
