NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS:

The work will include, but not be limited to selective demolition, removal and disposal of regulated building material, concrete work, masonry work, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, installation of seismic anchors/connectors, steel fabrication and erection, various masonry and drywall repair work, associated electrical/fire sprinkler/lighting/ACT removal and reinstallation or replacement, low voltage electrical work, procurement and installation of storefront and exterior/interior doors and related door frames, installation of security devices, card readers, miscellaneous painting, and clean-up.  The cost range is $900,000 to $1,100,00.

Part 1: Sealed Bids will be received by Seattle Public Schools (“SPS” or “Owner”) through and including 2:00 p.m. on April 20, 2022 at the Seattle Public Schools’ John Stanford Center, Contracting Services Section, 2445 Third Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134 for Graham Hill Seismic and Door Improvement.   

Part 2: Prior to 3:00 p.m. on such date, bidders shall submit bids on HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical subcontractor work listings. Shortly after 3:00, bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after the day and hour stated above will not receive consideration. 

Part 3: Prior to 2:00 p.m. on April 22, 2022, within forty-eight (48) hours of the time and date for the Receipt of Bids, bidders shall submit Structural Steel & Rebar subcontractor work listings at the Seattle Public Schools’ John Stanford Center, Contracting Services Section, 2445 Third Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134 for Graham Hill Seismic and Door Improvement. Shortly after 2:00, subcontractor work listings will be publicly opened and read aloud. Work listings received after the day and hour stated above will not receive consideration. Owner reserves the right to postpone the Bid opening. 

The Project site is available for inspection by prospective bidders at a pre-bid site meeting and walk-through at 2:30 p.m. on April 6, 2022 at Graham Hill Elementary School, 5149 S. Graham Street, Seattle, WA, 98110.  Check in at the school office. To best comply with current COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, meeting participants are required to adhere to the current guidelines.   Any questions relating to the project or this advertisement should be directed to Contracting Services, (206) 252-0571.

A surety company bid bond on a form acceptable to Owner, a cashier’s check or a certified check payable to the order of Seattle Public Schools shall accompany each bid in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the Base Bid.  The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bids received.

No bidder may withdraw its bid after the hour set for the opening thereof, unless the award of the contract
is delayed for a period exceeding ninety (90) days.

Bid documents are available beginning March 29, 2022 in the following ways:

1.    On-Line Plan Center

Bid documents, associated addenda and Bidders List are available at no charge at Builders Exchange of Washington, Inc. On-line Plan Center (www.bxwa.com).  To access documents on-line with Builders Exchange, go to “bxwa.com” and click on “Posted Projects,” “Public Works,” “Seattle Public Schools” and “Projects Bidding.”  It is recommended that bidders “Register as a Bidder” in order to receive automatic email notification of future addenda, to download addenda, and to be placed on the “Bidders List.”  Bidders that do not register will not be automatically notified of addenda and will need to periodically check the on-line plan room for addenda issued for this project.   Contact Builders Exchange at (425) 258-1303 if additional assistance is required.

2.    Reprographic Outlet

General contractors may pick up a maximum of two complete sets of Bidding Documents, and mechanical and electrical subcontractors may obtain one complete set of the Bidding Documents for a refundable deposit of $150.00 per set, by business or cashier’s check only, made payable to Seattle Public Schools at the office of:

between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Said deposit will be fully refunded upon the return of complete, unmarked and non-mutilated Bidding Documents to ARC Document Solutions within
30 days after the Bid Opening date.
