Construction of Conveyance Facilities as Part of the Ship Canal Water Quality Project
In early 2022, the City of Seattle’s Ship Canal Water Quality Project (SCWQP) will be looking for a contractor to construct conveyance facilities in the Wallingford neighborhood, including a pipe and diversion structure. The system will connect the existing combined sewer overflow pipe to the new storage tunnel.
Work Included in the Contract
- Construction of a new combined sewer pipe, maintenance holes, diversion structure, water main, and electrical instrumentation
- Demolition of existing structuresContaminated soil removal
- Shoring up to 25 feet deep
- Installation of temporary dewatering system
- Design and implementation of a temporary sewer bypass
- Roadway and sidewalk replacement
The new conveyance pipe will include a 36 inch and 42 inch Fiber Reinforced Pipe (FRP) and a 24 inch Vitrified Clay (VC) pipe. They are expected to be installed using open/cut construction.
Community Workforce Agreement and Priority Hire
This project is a Covered Project subject to the City of Seattle’s Community Workforce Agreement and Priority Hire (Seattle Municipal Code 20.37). Priority Hire provides access to work on the City’s construction projects for women, people of color, and people living in economically distressed communities. Estimate and Advertisement Timing
The Engineer’s Estimate for this project is $8,400,000. The advertisement for bids is expected in spring 2022. Bid advertisement will be posted to seattle.procureware.com.
