RFQ 527-332 Klickitat State Park-Suburbia Bridge

The Klickitat State Park Trail is a 31-mile multiuse trail in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area along the Wild and Scenic Klickitat Rivers that starts in the town of Lyle Washington and ends just southwest of the town of Goldendale near Uecker Road. Improvements to the lower 11 miles including a trailhead at Lyle, Washington, trestle decking and railing at the Fisher Hill trestle and surfacing were completed around 2010. While a majority of the trail remains in a primitive state, the entire 31 miles is open for trail enthusiasts and can largely be enjoyed without interruption except for the detours around Snyder Creek and the Klickitat River where the Suburbia
Bridge had previously been removed. This project will fill one of these gaps with a new bridge over the Klickitat River providing users with the ability to enjoy the majority of the 31-mile trail uninterrupted. Currently, State Parks has 60% Construction Documents. The base project includes advancing the 60% Construction Documents to 100% bid ready Construction Documents and associated permitting support. Bidding support and Construction Administration services may be included in this portion of the project or added as an amendment at a later date. The trail improvements will fill an important missing link for hikers, bikers, and equestrians. The new bridges shall accommodate equipment such as pickup trucks, small construction equipment and ambulances. This project will extend to but does not cross SR-142. The crossing is being addressed in a separate project. Associated site improvements such as signage (wayfinding and interpretation) transitions to the existing trail surface to provide an uninterrupted trail experience are also included in this portion of the project.
