BID NOTICE


The Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma will receive sealed bids for Bid# 2018-31, Northwest Trek – Bald
Eagle Exhibit – Net Fabrication and Installation, at the office of Planning, Design & Development, Metropolitan
Park District of Tacoma, 4702 S 19th Street, Tacoma WA 98405 until 2 p.m., January 7, 2019. Bids will be
opened and publicly read aloud at 2:00 p.m. Bids received after the appointed time set for receipt will be returned
unopened.


The project includes, but is not limited to:
 Fabricate 3 x 3 inch stainless mesh, 1/16 inch cable diameter, black oxide finish. This
mesh will form the containment sides of the exhibit. Per S1.1 and S2.1, this includes
approximately 335 feet of perimeter mesh which varies from 30 feet in height to 20 feet
in height. Successful bidder is responsible for exact measurements. This also includes
fabricating approximately 114 feet of mesh, 12 feet in height, to enclose the visitor
tunnel.

 Fabricate 4 x 4 inch stainless mesh, 1/16 inch cable diameter, black oxide finish. This
mesh will form the upper containment for the eagles in the exhibit. Per S1.1 and S2.1,
this includes approximately 4,825 square feet of mesh. Successful bidder is responsible
for exact measurements. This also includes fabricating approximately 1,500 square
feet of mesh to enclose the upper portion of the visitor tunnel.

 Attach mesh to existing cabling and structures per engineered drawings 2.3, 2.4, and 3.3.

 Attach mesh to ground per engineered drawings S2.2. This would include a ½ inch
diameter stainless steel cable to secure the bottom of the mesh to gravel substrate.
Auger anchors no more than 8 feet apart would be used to secure the cabling.
 Clean all materials from site when through.

 Mesh net installation is estimated to take place between May 1 and May 31.

The base bid estimate range is $100,000 - $200,000. Time of completion is 130 calendar days.

A pre-bid meeting will be held at Northwest Trek Administrative Officce, 11610 Trek Drive E, Eatonville WA
98328 on December 28, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. Bidders are encouraged to visit the site prior to the pre-bid
conference.
